Commissions & Ministries

What is a Commission?

A Commission is the body of representatives of all parish Ministries and other activities which have similar interests, ministry or purpose. All are part of one of the 5 Parish Commissions: Worship, Parish Life/Service, Education/Formation, Hispanic and Youth.

The Commissions, along with the Parish Pastoral Council, serve to organizationally unify the parish. Each Commission sets specific objectives and priorities to meet the broad parish goals, identifies resources and shares information.

If you are a registered parishioner and would like to join a ministry, you have come to the right place.

Outreach and Social Justice reaches out to those in need through outreach and programs that promote social justice. Pastoral Care and Nursing reaches out to those in need in and beyond the St. Michael Parish community. Reaches out to the homebound, and to the sick in hospitals and Nursing Facilities. Service also reaches out to those in need through the Thanksgiving, Christmas and Lenten Collections.

Service Ministry witnesses to the reality of Jesus’ desire for us to love our neighbor. Through Baptism we have been called personally by God to minister as Jesus did. We depend, not on ourselves alone, but on the Spirit for the power to do this. Jesus said, “I come to serve, not to be served.” Service Ministry is the organized effort within St. Michael parish through which God’s people can directly carry out the Corporal Works of Mercy.

The Worship Ministry of Saint Michael, drawing our strength from the Eucharist, guides, encourages, and empowers the assembled Church to full, conscious, and active participation in the Mass and other liturgical celebrations. With the spirit alive in us, our ministry enables our parish community to experience God while living the Gospel message in daily life.

Since the Eucharistic Liturgy is the source and summit of our lives as Catholic Christians, the work of Liturgy never ends and the Worship Ministries never take a break! During the summer months we are busy planning ahead so that we may provide quality worship experiences for our parish.

The Youth of St. Michael Parish are given the opportunities of friendship, service, and education. We affirm their talents and gifts to our ministry from Junior High to College Students. We celebrate their growth in the Spirit which brings vitality and uniqueness to our faith experience.

What’s New: We are working hard on the passion play and also planning for the summer events.
