MAY 15, 2022 (PICTURES) – We are grateful that Fr. Michael J. Joyce, O. Carm., decided to celebrate his First Mass of Thanksgiving with us on May 15, 2022 – Fr. Joyce was ordained a priest on Saturday, May 14, 2022. This was indeed a joy-filled day for not only Fr. Mike, his family, the Carmelite community and his friends – it was a day for all the Church to celebrate. Priests do not magically appear from heaven. God calls them from a community of believers to go forth to preach and minister to God’s people at the altar. Fr. Mike attended St. Michael School and this community helped form him to eventually say yes to the call of Jesus.
Let us congratulate Fr. Michael Joyce – a St. Mike’s Wildcat, a Mt. Carmel Caravan, a University of Illinois Illini and now a priest of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, let us all rejoice!
