During the season of Lent we are reminded of our need to commit ourselves to prayer, fasting and almsgiving. These practices have always been a part of our Lenten experience. They prompt us to consider personal change and renewal in our lives, and give of ourselves as Jesus gave his life for us.
Each Lent, beginning on Ash Wednesday, the Social Concerns Ministry puts out paper crosses with labels requesting items needed by members of our sharing parish and other local charities or gift cards to be used to purchase needed items. You may select a cross and purchase the items listed on it as an expression of your commitment to the practice of almsgiving.
Crosses are available throughout the season of Lent. We ask that unwrapped items be returned to the Narthex before Palm Sunday. Gifts should be new. Any gift cards should be returned to the collection basket or to the parish office. Gift cards are not to be left in the Narthex.
