During the season of Lent we are reminded of our need to commit ourselves to prayer, fasting and almsgiving. These practices have always been a part of our Lenten experience. They prompt us to consider personal change and renewal in our lives, and give of ourselves as Jesus gave his life for us.
On Ash Wednesday, the Social Concerns Ministry put out paper crosses with labels requesting items needed by members of our sharing parish, St. Vincent de Paul, and other local charities or gift cards to be used to purchase needed items. Little did we know how things would change in our world since then. If you took a cross, we ask that you hold on to the gifts you purchased until our Churches reopen, or wait to go out and purchase the item until it is safe. Charity to those in need is a year-round virtue to practice. We will distribute your gifts to the needy as soon as we are able.
IMPORTANT – ONCE OUR PARISH BUILDINGS RE-OPEN, we ask that unwrapped items, with the cross attached, be returned to our Parish Office. A deadline date for returning the gifts will be announced. Thank you for your patience and generosity.
