Year 2022 – Making Fleece Blankets for the Elderly

To Our Photo / Video Gallery 2022

DECEMBER 2022 (PICTURES) – THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING FROM YOUR HANDS AND HEARTS FOR GOD’S ELDERLY CHILDREN! – What do you get when you place one large piece of fleece on top of the other, pin the four corners, add a line of tape to each of four sides, make cuts an inch apart up to the tape line on all four sides, and then tie each pair of strips into a knot? You get beautiful soft and warm tie blankets created by a group of God’s children preparing to be Confirmed to warm the mind, body, and souls of God’s elderly children who deserve our love and care. Thank you, with all those two words can express, to many Confirmandi, to MANY parishioners and parishioner families, and to Donna McDonough and our parish Hooks ‘n Needles Ministry who created 117 blankets, yes 117, WOW! The Confirmandi wrapped the remaining blankets and added a note from our parish to each one. As the blanket below said, we hope each of God’s elderly children (and all of us) can always look on the sunny side and smile knowing how loved they are by God and prayed for everyday by many.

When we asked God who could help deliver all the blankets, He guided us to our parish daily rosary group. Here you see Kathy, Carol, and Fran by the Christmas tree at the Promedica Nursing and Rehab facility after they loaded, drove, and unloaded their vehicles of all the blankets. They are just three of our parishioners who gather in the chapel after the 8 AM Mass Monday through Friday and after the 8:30 AM Mass on Saturday to pray the rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy for all in our parish and so many more intentions. Praying the rosary every day is so important, as our Blessed Mother asks us to do. If your schedule allows on any day, please come by our parish chapel (Monday through Friday at 8:30 AM and Saturday at 9 AM) to join in praying the rosary. If you’re thinking, “But I’ve never prayed the rosary before,” or “I’ve never prayed with a group before”, no worries. Open your heart to Jesus, trusting in Him, and come by to see what He does for you.
