JUNE 12-13, 2026 (PICTURES) – We held the 7th Annual Multi-Parish home Build event at St. Michael on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13, 2026. – We had 15 volunteers from St. Michael on Friday and 31 volunteers on Saturday. Volunteers helped with Parking / Safety, Registration, Hospitality, cutting boards, and building walls. There were a total of around 100 volunteers on Friday and around 180+ volunteers on Saturday from the 7 churches in our Vicariate.
Volunteers worked from 12 Noon until 3 PM on Friday, cutting the boards and applying the vinyl templates on the top and bottom wall boards. Volunteers worked from 8 AM until 1:30 PM on Saturday, hammering the stud walls together. We built enough walls for 2 houses for needy families near Gary, Indiana. The walls were trucked to the build site, and Habitat for Humanity teams will take the stud walls and build the houses.
The hospitality crew fed everyone hamburgers / hot dogs on Friday with the St. Michael Knights of Columbus grilling. Sandwiches and snacks were also provided to all volunteers for Saturday lunch. The hospitality crew kept all the workers hydrated with water and Gatorade as well as snacks.
It was a great two days, and the weather was wonderful. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped to make this a successful charitable event.
