Saturday, March 14 at 7:00 PM, at St. Michael Church in Orland Park – Don’t miss this Saturday’s spectacular piano recital presented by the St. Michael Concert Series at St. Michael Church (14327 Highland Ave, Orland Park), featuring Steinway Artist and Miami University Associate Professor of Piano, Frank Huang, in a captivating program built around the music of Nikolai Medtner.
Medtner is a somewhat neglected Russian Romantic master, often compared to Sergei Rachmaninoff. Huang is widely regarded as one of today’s foremost interpreters of Medtner’s music, and he is in the process of recording his complete works. His Medtner recordings have garnered rave reviews from Gramophone, which among other things said that “Huang can hold his own next to Marc-André Hamelin” and that “Medtner and Huang are made for each other.” The program also features rarely heard gems by Francis Poulenc and Franz Liszt, offering a rich and distinctive evening that goes well beyond the standard recital fare.
Recognized by New York Concert Review as a “thoughtful and accomplished performer” whose playing is “impressive for its maturity and refinement,” Huang has graced some of the world’s most prestigious stages: from Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall and Lincoln Center in New York to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., St. Martin in the Fields in London, and the US Embassy in Warsaw. A champion of adventurous programming and a passionate advocate for music that deserves a wider audience, Huang’s recitals consistently reward listeners with fresh discoveries and deeply considered interpretations.
We hope to see you this Saturday, March 14 at 7:00 PM, at St. Michael Church in Orland Park for this wonderful concert!
