DECEMBER 9, 2018 (PICTURES) – The children of St. Michael Parish felt great joy as they celebrated with St. Nicholas on December 9, 2018 – St. Nicholas inspires us to think of others and how we can give to them as Jesus teaches us. We can keep Christmas with us all through the year by remembering the joy we felt on that special day and always thinking of and helping others.
After leading the children in the procession of Sunday Mass, St. Nicholas led them to our chapel for Young People’s Liturgy of the Word so they could hear and talk about God’s Word as it relates to their lives.
At our St. Nicholas masses and on each Sunday of Advent, the children of our parish would talk about the meaning of and light the next candle on the Advent wreath. They would enjoy learning about Jesus’ family as they heard the next part of the story of the Jesse Tree and added an ornament to the Jesse Tree that represents each person.
After Mass, families excitedly gathered in the Commons to see what surprise St. Nicholas left in their shoes, to enjoy a snack and start creating a Jesse Tree and Christmas frame, and of course to take a special photo.
