DECEMBER 2023 (PICTURES) – ST. MICHAEL RE STUDENTS FOCUS ON GOD’S HOLY MASS – The St. Michael Religious Education (RE) students focused on God’s Holy Mass in November and all students were blessed to have Deacon Colin Huie as their catechist. Deacon Colin shared his story about his love for Mass “because Jesus is really there.”
In addition to asking the students questions about their thoughts on attending Mass, Deacon Colin described how Mass is a very special family meal. He explained how, as family members, we are excited, grateful and thankful to be together and share joy through song, prayers, scripture and receiving the body and blood of Jesus at Mass. He showed our students the sacred books and vessels used at Mass and explained why we use them. He also taught them about the four ways Jesus is present to us in the Holy Mass – in the priest (the person of Christ), in the Gospel, in the Eucharist, and in each one of us as we go in peace to share Jesus with those we see and meet.
