Year 2019 – First Communion Celebration

To Our Photo / Video Gallery 2019

MAY 4, 2019 (PICTURES) – Thank you so much to all parishioners for your prayers for our 2nd graders and Bridges students (3rd through 7th graders) as they prepared to receive the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time. Please continue to pray for the children and their parents that they will always keep their hearts and minds open to and focused on God throughout each day and to come back to the Lord’s Table at Mass every weekend to continue to receive God in Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. As Fr. Frank told all at the Mass on May 4, 2019, what we eat and drink dissolves within us and becomes a part of us. Each time we receive Jesus, He is more a part of us and with us for everything we do, and we need Him.

It takes a community to plant the seeds, guide our youth, and trust in God to help them grow in their faith and relationship with Christ and to celebrate such a holy sacred Mass as we did. Thank you more than words can say to the MANY who, led by God, gave their hearts and hands to the faith formation of our youth and to plan and create our First Eucharist Masses… Thank you to… Parents as their child’s first and primary teachers who keep guiding their child to Jesus; our pastors, priests, and deacons who lead us at every Mass; Laura Drabeck, Dana Milleran, Dorice Brennan, and all SMS teachers and staff who have guided their students in our faith; Anne Marie Quinlan, Marlene Rybicki, Paulina Mitra, Malu Mitra, John Walsh, Lisa Castaneda, Joanna Castro, and all RE Catechists who have guided their students in our faith; RE classroom aides; Rosemary Lambert, Pat Chuchla, Courtney and Niall Twomey, and Peter Kitchin and many 7th and 8th grade volunteers who guided families in faith at our First Communion Retreat, Pat Chuchla our Pastoral Associate and Worship Director; Susan O’Connell for her work with 2nd graders as lectors; Children’s Choir Director Gina Torbett, Music Director Gary Patin, and the parish Children’s Choir; our Sacristans, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, and Ushers; the anonymous angels who donated a First Communion book and a handmade rosary for each First Communicant (as each rosary was created, the child who was to receive it was being prayed for). We are a truly blessed faith community!
