Year 2022 – Feast of St. Nicholas Celebration with YPLW

To Our Photo / Video Gallery 2022

DECEMBER 4, 2022 (PICTURES) – WORSHIPING WITH THE INTERCESSION OF ST. NICHOLAS – On Sunday, December 4, 2022, our parish celebrated the Feast of St. Nicholas. St. Nicholas was grateful that we had a Sharing Tree so we can choose an ornament and learn how we can help someone in need. St. Nicholas walked in the procession as Mass began. After opening prayers, he led 117 of God’s children to our parish chapel for YPLW (Young People’s Liturgy of the Word). Children’s Liturgy began with a review of the meaning of the Advent wreath and lighting of the candle of peace for the 2nd Sunday of Advent. Then it was time to sing and sign our Advent song, followed by four student lectors proclaiming the day’s readings, psalm, and prayer of the faithful. The YPLW facilitator, the Virtus trained adult who leads the liturgy, shares a reflection for the readings to guide God’s children in how they can live each day following Jesus.

After Mass ended and we began to go in peace, families headed to our parish Commons room for children to check their shoes for a treat from St. Nicholas. He gifted them a story for kids about his journey with and for Christ, a coloring page with a prayer to pray each day, a candy cane with blessing prayer, a sweet chocolate bar that looked like him, and an orange as “cutie” as God’s children.

Families then enjoyed some refreshments and photos with St. Nicholas. Mrs. Domico, our YPLW leader, Mr. Domico, who sets up and takes down our equipment with Mr. Hiter, and Mrs. Hiter who served as the YPLW facilitator were smiling from ear to ear and in their hearts with St. Nicholas as they reflected on God’s blessings, especially the holy Mass we had all just celebrated, where we worshiped and thanked our dearest loving God.

Thank You dear God for the gift of St. Nicholas and all of Your saints as our holy guides whose intercession we can ask to pray for us. St. Nicholas, pray for us each day that we keep our thoughts, words, and actions holy, that we turn to God often to learn how we can help those in need. Amen!
