Several adults train them to project, enunciate, and read with conviction, but we also instruct them in understanding what they are reading. The are broken down into several small groups for training. The older children will act as mentors to the younger students. Student lectors are eager to learn and their enthusiasm grows as they become more confident in their skills. Most importantly, these students are sharing their faith with others as they grow in their own faith. We are so proud of those student lectors who, after graduation, become lectors at our weekend Masses!

As we resume a new year 2019-2020 of faith formation and continue serving our Lord, 100 students of our parish heard a call from God and said “YES!” to serving Him in the liturgical ministry of Lector to proclaim God’s Word.
At our first monthly training sessions in September 2019, each lector was commissioned. Each reaffirmed their baptism via a holy water sprinkling rite and commitment to love, light, hope, and faith.
After commissioning, students enjoyed collaborating in an activity based on 1 Corinthians 12:12-26. By working together, students gained understanding that each of us is an important part of the Body of Christ, and we all use our God-given gifts to work together for Christ.
